Background
Curt Whitmire is relatively new to the world of fisheries. After completing his M.S. in Marine Resource Management from Oregon State University in early 2003, Curt began work at the NWFSC in the FRAM division. Curt's thesis research involved using GIS, remote sensing, and data from direct observations to map benthic habitats off the central Oregon coast at Heceta Bank. He has participated in numerous research cruises investigating benthic communities and their habitats. Curt hopes to apply his experiences off Oregon to the challenges associated with regional surveys and stock assessments.

Current Research
Curt's provides technical support for the Assessment, Habitat, Survey, and Acoustics teams within FRAM. His primary duties are to conduct spatial analyses of various data associated with surveying and assessing groundfish resources off the West Coast.
