The Trade/Commercial Services Team directly and indirectly assists the highly competitive and economically important commercial U.S. fisheries sector. The Team conducts a number of activities critical for maintaining a competitive U.S. seafood industry in global markets, and protects the interests of American consumers.

The Team provides assistance, advocates for, and advances the interests of U.S. seafood businesses and consumers by serving as a voice in the U.S. Government on global issues affecting worldwide trade, market accessibility, consumer health and safety. The team also provides direct assistance to industry to navigate the maze of international regulations and standards, facilitating the free flow of trade between U.S. seafood business and our trading partners.

The Team has staff assigned to the European Union and Japanese Embassies to handle trade issues in those sectors, in addition to staff located in Silver Spring , Md.
