Mayor’s Office to host NASA Workshop on Thursday

2/20/2002

Chattanooga, TN— Building on the success of the “Mayor’s Town Hall Forum” in December (which drew more than 500 participants), Mayor Corker’s office is hosting a smaller workshop which will provide local businesses with practical information on doing business with NASA.

Representatives from NASA’s Huntsville facility will conduct the half-day workshop at the DRC on Thursday.  The event will focus primarily on the Research & Development and product development contracts and opportunities which are available to small businesses through NASA.  In addition, two of NASA’s prime contractors, who conduct research in cooperation with small businesses, will also be on hand to discuss opportunities available to local companies.

Some topics which will be covered during the workshop include: NASA’s specific research needs, case studies from businesses who have done business with NASA, current contracts up for bid through NASA, how to take advantage of those contracts and information on how a research proposal should be written.

Following the presentations, presenters will be available for one-on-one meetings with participants.

The workshop begins at 9 a.m. on Thursday, February 21 at the DRC Building on Market Street.  Media are encouraged to cover any portion of the three hour workshop.
