Another Juvenile Arrested for Bomb Threat

2/22/2007

For the second time in a month, a juvenile has been arrested for making a bomb threat at Chattanooga Middle Museum Magnet School at 1219 Mississippi Avenue. The threat against the school was made on February 9, 2007. After a two week investigation that included valuable assistance from the school staff, Lieutenant Henry McElvain with the Fire Investigation Division tracked the threat down to an 8th grade male student.

When Lt. McElvain was ready to make the arrest today, he discovered that the 13-year-old youth was already being held in the Juvenile Detention Center on an unrelated charge. Lt. McElvain charged the juvenile with Making a False Report (i.e. a bomb threat) and Reckless Endangerment. Fire Investigator Captain Lesley Morgan assisted with the investigation and arrest.

On January 22, 2007, a 6th grade male student at Chattanooga Middle was arrested for making a bomb threat two days earlier. In both incidents, no explosive devices were found.

This is actually the third bomb threat arrest in about a month. Fire investigators arrested an 8th grade male student on January 17, 2007 for making a bomb threat at Orchard Knob Middle School.
