MLK Neighborhood to receive Weed and Seed designation by Department of Justice

Chattanooga, TN—In a media conference scheduled for later today, Mayor Bob Corker will join Joyce Smith and other officials from the MLK neighborhood association as they receive an official "Weed and Seed" designation by the Department of Justice.  Making the presentation from the Department of Justice will be the Honorable Sandy Mattice.

The Weed and Seed program focuses on: (Weeding strategies) law enforcement, community oriented policing, (Seeding strategies) prevention, intervention and treatment and neighborhood restoration.  The ML King neighborhood plans to focus their efforts on crime prevention efforts.

The designated zone for the Weed and Seed program is bounded by McCallie Avenue, Lindsay Street, Eleventh Street and O’Neal Street.

Media are invited to attend today's event scheduled to take place at the Central City Complex on MLK Boulevard at 1:30 p.m.
