Determining egg maturity in a female white sturgeon

Welcome to the home page of the University of Idaho Aquaculture Research Institute. Because Idaho is the nation's largest commercial producer of rainbow trout, aquaculture, or fish farming, is one of the University's primary areas of research. Our Institute promotes, supports, and coordinates aquaculture research activities at the University of Idaho and throughout the state and region. UI scientists in various disciplines conduct research in both commercial and conservation aquaculture sciences and technologies.

Who We Are: The Aquaculture Research Institute was created in 1988 to facilitate aquaculture research at the University. The institute is linked with the Colleges of Agricultural and Life Sciences, Natural Resources, Business, Science and Engineering. Faculty within the Institute have appointments in one or more of these colleges. The Director reports directly to the Vice-President of Research.  ARI supports graduate student research but does not offer classes or grant degrees. These functions are the responsibility of partner colleges within the University.  All applicants interested in graduate education at ARI need to apply for admission to Graduate School at the University of Idaho
