Chapter 16: Advisory Committee Management

16.1 Closed or Restricted Advisory Committee Meetings. Assistant Secretaries are authorized to make written determinations, as provided in Section 10(d) of the Federal Advisory Committee Act (Public Law 92-463; 5 U.S.C. Appendix; as amended by provisions of Public Law 94-409; 5 U.S.C. 552b) for closed or restricted meetings of advisory committees for which they are responsible. This authority will be exercised in accordance with the procedural requirements of 308 DM, and redelegation is restricted to heads of bureaus and Other Departmental Offices.

16.2 Notice of Advisory Committee Meetings. Assistant Secretaries are authorized to publish notices in the Federal Register, as provided in Section 10(a) (2) of the Federal Advisory Committee Act (Public Law 92-463; 5 U.S.C. Appendix) regarding meetings of advisory committees for which they are responsible. This authority will be exercised in accordance with the procedural requirements of 308 DM, and may be redelegated.

16.3 Notice of Advisory Committee Renewals. Assistant Secretaries are authorized to publish notices in the Federal Register, as required by OMB Circular A-63, Revised, Transmittal Memorandum No.1, regarding renewals of advisory committees for which they are responsible. This authority may be redelegated.

16.4 Amendment Authority. This chapter does not limit the authority delegated to the Assistant Secretary - Policy, Budget, and Administration by 209 DM 4. The Assistant Secretary - Policy, Budget, and Administration is authorized to amend, limit, suspend, or revoke any authority granted by or pursuant to this chapter. This authority may not be redelegated.
