Air Bag Aggressivity Study
Air Bag Test Data

NHTSA has undertaken a test program to evaluate the aggressiveness of air bags to occupants who are out-of-position, in a vehicle crash, during air bag deployment. In addition, NHTSA is evaluating the potential to reduce air bag aggressivenesswith new air bag designs and/or inflators with reduced output (De-Powered Systems). Current results of this test program can be downloaded from the table below. Brief explanations of test conditions are provided.
