Materials World Modules (MWM) are hands-on, inquiry and design-based units for middle and
high school students. Based on materials science and nanotechnology principles, this interdisciplinary
approach engages students, adds relevance to traditional curriculum, and has been shown to
improve science knowledge for all students. » Learn

Nanotechnology Module - Now available! |
Students discover that physical and chemical properties of materials can depend on
their size, investigate how nanoparticles can be made, and determine how to amplify small features at
the nanoscale to the macroscopic scale. They are then challenged to design a working model of a nanoscale
imaging apparatus or model a nanoscience phenomenon. |
Fieldtest Review:
"Students
were highly engaged -- they took to it right away without much prodding from me. They especially
liked the AFM design project." |
