Significant U.S. Weather and Climate Events for 2005: -- After a record-breaking hurricane season, blistering heat waves, lingering drought and a crippling Northeast blizzard, 2005 is ending as a warm year in the United States. NPOESS Preparatory Project (NPP) Satellite being constucted for NASA by Ball Aerospace in Boulder, CO. NPP, is scheduled to launch October 31, 2006. NPP is a risk reduction effort for NPOESS.
Educational Module on Satellite and Orbits: NOAA's Satellite and Information Service has combined the talents of science teachers, rocket scientists, satellite designers, a technology writer, and a creative new-media producer to develop an introduction to satellites and the forces which determine their orbits, for grades 8-12. http://eic.ipo.noaa.gov/education/unit01.php
