Smarter Solutions For A Better Environment

GSA has partnered with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Department of Energy (DOE) to offer the federal community a broad range of energy efficient products.

Customers can gain access to an up-to-date listing of Schedule vendors that are participating in the GSA Multiple Award Schedules (MAS) Program by searching on the GSA Schedules e-Library website. Customers should keep in mind that Schedule vendors are not required to offer only 'energy efficient' items and are therefore strongly encouraged to request that Schedule vendors identify ENERGY STAR Qualified products, or other energy efficient products, in their pricelists and product catalogs prior to placing an order.

An Environmental Specialty Category has been added to GSAAdvantage!® online shopping experience. The Environmental Specialty Category allows federal buyers with direct access to our variety of products offerings that contain environmental attributes, including energy efficient products. This is the latest effort to assist federal customers in making "green" purchases. GSA has identified energy efficient products in its online purchasing system on GSAAdvantage!® with either the EPA/DOE ENERGY STAR label, an FEMP symbol, or an EPEAT registered symbol. These designations signify that those products meet or exceed the energy efficient criteria for federal government purchasing that were established by the EPA/DOE ENERGY STAR Program or the DOE Purchasing Requirements for Energy Efficient Products. For most of the energy efficient products, vendors denote whether the product meets the specifications and determine which symbols to display. GSA contracting specialists do quality assurance checks. If there is a question about a particular designation, customers should contact the Schedule vendor for confirmation prior to placing an order.

When customers buy these products from GSA, they are meeting the requirements to purchase ENERGY STAR and FEMP qualified products established by the Energy Policy Act of 2005, FAR Subpart 23.2,  Executive Order 13423, and Executive Order 13221.  For more information, please go to the Energy Efficient Product LibraryENERGY STAR website for Federal Agencies, or EPEAT website, which contains important documents-regulations, product guides, articles and presentations--to assist efforts to meet energy-efficient product procurement requirements.
