NR 2001-83 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact: Kevin Mukri (202) 874-5770 September 14, 2001 OCC and ABA Postpone Conference on Community and Economic Development WASHINGTON -- The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency and the American Bankers Association announced today that the 2001 National Community and Economic Development Conference scheduled for September 17-19 in Baltimore Maryland has been postponed due to the national tragedy of September 11 and the uncertainty of U.S. airline service. The conference will be rescheduled, and it is anticipated that the conference will be held next Spring. All conference attendees will receive full reimbursement for their conference registration fees. # # # The OCC charters, regulates and examines approximately 2,200 national banks and 52 federal branches of foreign banks in the U.S., accounting for more than 54 percent of the nation’s banking assets.
