Gang Related Stabbings

The Lodi Police Department is investigating two gang related stabbings that occurred on consecutive nights.  The first stabbing occurred on February 17, 2004 in the 400 block of East Locust Street where a 16-year-old male juvenile was stabbed in the back while trying to run away from several northern California Hispanic gang members that attacked him.  The gang members drove by in a vehicle and stopped to ask the victim if he was a member of a rival gang.  The victim fled after denying his affiliation.  One of the suspects then caught the victim and stabbed him once in the lower back.  The victim was treated at a local hospital for his wound.  The suspects in this case are still outstanding and the case is under investigation.

The second stabbing occurred on February 18, 2004 in the 900 block of South Garfield.  In this case, there were two victims, one, of a stab wound and another of assault with a vehicle.  The victims were investigating a noise by their vehicle when they were confronted by several suspects.  The suspects asked the victims if they were affiliated with a Southern California Hispanic gang.  The victims denied affiliation and one was subsequently stabbed in the abdomen.  The other was hit by the suspect with their vehicle.  At the time of this press release, both victims were still being treated for their injuries at a local hospital.  This case is also under investigation with the suspects outstanding.
