Public swimming limited to Blakely Park this weekend

Swimming at City of Lodi facilities will be limited to the Blakely Park pool over the Memorial Day weekend. High bacteria counts will make Lodi Lake off-limits to swimmers until at least the following weekend.

Public swim at Blakely Pool, at Stockton and Poplar streets, is from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday through Monday. Admission is $1.

The Lodi Lake boathouse also will be closed during the weekend to avoid human contact with the water, which temporarily failed to meet public health standards. High bacteria counts are usually associated with high temperatures and low water flows on the Mokelumne River.

The Parks and Recreation Department anticipates reopening the lake beach and wading pool to the public on Saturday, June 1. Public swim hours are 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., Tuesday through Sunday through the Labor Day weekend, plus Labor Day. Admission is $3 for adults and $1.50 for children ages 3-17.
