President George W. Bush will present the President’s Volunteer Service Award to Jennie Roth when he arrives in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on Monday, March 7, 2005. Roth, 21, is an active volunteer at the Providence Family Support Center.

President Bush has called on all Americans to volunteer two years or 4,000 hours over the course of their lifetimes, and he created USA Freedom Corpsto help foster a culture of service, citizenship, and responsibility. Since March 2002, President Bush has met with more than 400 individuals around the country, like Roth, who are answering the call to volunteer service.

Twice a month, Roth attends events and spends time with the children at the Center. She also serves food during special holiday meals, and assists with the Center's Family Fun Nights. In addition, Roth is instrumental in recruiting volunteers for a variety of community service projects through her role as Community Service Chairperson for Project Achievement at La Roche College. The Providence Family Support Center offers services to strengthen families including life skills and parenting classes, support groups, counseling, parent-child groups, and special activities.

The President's Volunteer Service Award, an initiative of the President's Council on Service and Civic Participation, is available to Americans of all ages who have demonstrated their dedication to volunteer service.
