President George W. Bush will meet Joe Morrison when he arrives in Willow Grove, Pennsylvania, on Thursday, October 28, 2004. Morrison, 54, is an active volunteer with the Greater Delaware Valley National Multiple Sclerosis chapter and Gilda’s Club of Delaware Valley.

President Bush has called on all Americans to volunteer two years or 4,000 hours over the course of their lifetimes, and hecreated USA Freedom Corpsto help foster a culture of service, citizenship, and responsibility. Since March 2002, President Bush has met with more than 350 individuals around the country, like Morrison, who are answering the call to volunteer service.

Each year Morrison participates in read-a-thons to benefit the greater Delaware Valley National Multiple Sclerosis chapter. Having been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, Morrison speaks to children during assemblies at elementary and middle schools about the disease and its impact on families. Morrison also serves on the board of Gilda's Club of Delaware Valley, a support group for people with cancer and their family and friends. For the past two years, he has also been a volunteer with Big Brothers of Bucks County. Morrison is a mentor for a fifth grade boy and meets with him twice a month. In addition, Morrison is on the board of directors for Contact, a crisis telephone line for residents of Bucks County.

Through USA Freedom Corps, President Bush wants to help every American answer the Call to Service by strengthening and expanding service opportunities to protect our homeland, support our communities, and extend American compassion around the world. Interested volunteers can find information at www.usafreedomcorps.gov or by calling 1-877-USA-CORPS.
