President George W. Bush will meet Frank Schnorbus when he arrives in Reno, Nevada, on Thursday, October 14, 2004. Schnorbusis a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) volunteer for abused and neglected children.
President Bush has called on all Americans to volunteer two years or 4,000 hours over the course of their lifetimes, and hecreated USA Freedom Corpsto help foster a culture of service, citizenship, and responsibility. Since March 2002, President Bush has met with more than 300 individuals around the country, like Schnorbus, who are answering the call to volunteer service.
As a CASA volunteer and independent advocate for these children, Schnorbus is responsible for promoting and protecting their best interests during the time they are assigned to him. He is currently an advocate for two children and has assisted with three others. In addition, Schnorbus has been the volunteer president of the Northern Nevada Home School Advisory Council since 1997. This council works with the Nevada State Board of Education and the Department of Education on issues pertaining to home schooling.
Through USA Freedom Corps, President Bush wants to help every American answer the Call to Service by strengthening and expanding service opportunities to protect our homeland, support our communities, and extend American compassion around the world. Interested volunteers can find information at www.usafreedomcorps.gov or by calling 1-877-USA-CORPS.
