President George W. Bush will meet Lynn Brennan when he arrives in Los Angeles, California, on Thursday, August 12, 2004. Brennan is an active volunteer with seniors in her community.

President Bush hascalled on all Americans to volunteer two years or 4,000 hours over the course of their lifetimes, and hecreated USA Freedom Corpsto help foster a culture of service, citizenship, and responsibility. Since March 2002, President Bush has met with more than 300 individuals around the country, like Brennan, who are answering the call to volunteer service.

Brennan produces and hosts “Senior Living,” a cable television program focused on topics from senior health and safety to exercise and senior pet companions. The program airs throughout Southern California. Brennan is a member of Keep Safe Coalition, a grass-roots organization that stands for “Keep Every Elder Protected - Stop Abuse and Financial Exploitation.” This organization visits church and community groups and gives presentations that heighten awareness of financial abuse and help seniors identify scams. Brennan is also the founder of The Roaring 90s Club of the SouthBay, which offers meeting opportunities for those over the age of 90.

USA Freedom Corps has launched “A Call to Summer Service,” an initiative to encourage Americans to spend a part of their summer in volunteer service. Through A Call to Summer Service, citizens are reminded that the summer months are an excellent time to answer the President’s Call to Service, strengthen their communities, and extend the compassion and greatness of America. Interested volunteers can find ideas for summer volunteering and information on how to get started at www.usafreedomcorps.gov.
