Washington, DC – Deputy Secretary of the Interior Lynn Scarlett recently presented Marshal Case with the Presidential Call to Service Award for his service to America’s public lands and volunteerism. Mr. Case is the President of the American Chestnut Foundation, and has given over 4,000 hours of volunteer service during his lifetime.
Case was nominated for this award by Take Pride in America®, for his dedication to promoting nature education for youth, and for tirelessly working to inspire children to get outdoors and take pride in their lands.
Take Pride in America is a national partnership program aimed at increasing volunteer service on America’s public lands. Take Pride bestows and honors those who by their demonstrated commitment and example, inspire others to engage in volunteer service.
“In addition to the great work Mr. Case has done as President of The American Chestnut Foundation, he has also proven to be true advocate for the protection and care our public lands,” said Katie Loovis, Executive Director of Take Pride in America®. “Take Pride is proud to recognize Mr. Case and The American Chestnut Foundation as our partners, and it is a pleasure to help honor him for his continued efforts to promote our shared vision of public lands volunteerism.”
In his January 2002 State of the Union Address, President Bush called on all Americans to make a difference in their communities and across the globe through volunteer service. He created USA Freedom Corps, an Office of the White House, to help Americans answer his Call to Service.
