Desert Peaks Awards The Desert Peaks Awards were initiated by the Maricopa Association of Governments (MAG) to recognize individuals and partnerships that have demonstrated a commitment to regionalism through their cooperative efforts. By working together, local governments can solve common problems, proactively address concerns that affect all communities, and produce impressive results that strengthen both individual communities and the region. These joint efforts often lead to a better use of resources and service delivery to citizens. The nomination process for the 2008 Desert Peaks Awards has ended with judging to begin in late Spring.
