Job Description
Practical Nurses at the NIH conduct comprehensive patient management activities including performing emergency management procedures on unstable patients, predicting and analyzing trends in patient conditions and developing a patient management plan in response to the data obtained. Additionally, they work to assist in designing and implementing specific protocols and may serve as an associate or principal investigator for those protocols. Nurse Practitioners demonstrate expertise in data management; direct and perform quality assurance and quality control activities as they relate to protocol adherence, protocol monitoring, data collection, data abstraction and data analysis, while providing specialty consultative services to colleagues in nursing, medicine and other disciplines.
