International Equivalence Staff
Meat, poultry and egg products imported into the United States must be produced under standards equivalent to U.S. food safety standards. Learn more about the equivalence process.

Import-Export Programs Staff
FSIS is responsible for developing policies and procedures for port-of-entry reinspection of imported meat, poultry and egg products, and for certifying exports of meat, poultry and egg products.

Import Inspection Division
FSIS plans and administers a national import reinspection program. After the U.S. Customs Service and USDA-APHIS requirements are met, shipments imported into the U.S. must be reinspected by FSIS at an approved import inspection facility. FSIS has about 75 inspectors who carry out reinspection in approximately 125 official import establishments.

FSIS Codex Program Staff
This staff coordinates responses to issues before the Codex Alimentarius Commission, an international standard-setting body.
