Commanding Officer- CDR Ralph Rogers, Hometown: Corpus Christi, Texas

Been Commanding Officer on NANCY FOSTER since January 2008, an original plankowner having served as the first Executive Officer beginning in 2002, before the ship was commissioned.

This is CDR Rogers' fourth sea assignment. He was Operations Officer and fleeted up to Executive Officer of NOAA Ship FERREL and served aboard NOAA Ship RUDE on his first sea tour. Shore assignments include working in the OAR Headquarters as the Research Platform Resource Manager, Deputy Chief of Operations at MOC-A, Executive Officer of Gray's Reef National Marine Sanctuary, Project Officer for NOAA's Fleet Replacement and Modernization Office, and Deputy Chief of the Atlantic Hydrographic Field Party.

CDR Rogers holds a Masters of Science degree in Environmental Management and Bachelor of Science degrees from The University of Texas at Austin in Mechanical Engineering and Petroleum Engineering. He resides in Silver Spring, MD with his wife and his two daughters, who are attending George Mason University in Fairfax, VA.
