This National Food Safety Education MonthSM Training & Promotion Guide is intended for use by state and local health department staff members who work with retail food establishments. Some of the ideas and materials may be more relevant to you than others; please select the information that best suits your goals and resources.

We also encourage you to form partnerships with other state and local organizations (such as state restaurant associations and other food industry organizations) to plan and implement National Food Safety Education Month activities. Examples of successful partnerships from previous years are provided in this Guide.

You may wish to duplicate and distribute information and materials contained in this Guide to retail food establishments in your area. Or, they may access similar training and promotion materials by visiting the International Food Safety Council Web site at www.foodsafetycouncil.org.

Please also be sure to let us know about your National Food Safety Education Month plans and activities - your feedback is important to the continued success of this annual observance.
