About Christian Medical & Dental Associations

The Christian Medical & Dental Associations (CMDA) are made up of the Christian Medical Association (CMA) and the Christian Dental Association (CDA). CMDA serves as a voice and ministry for Christian doctors. Founded in 1931, CMDA provides programs and services supporting its mission to "change hearts in healthcare" with a current membership of over 17,000. The CMDA:

  • promotes positions and addresses policies on healthcare issues;
  • conducts overseas medical projects through its mission arm, Global Health Outreach;
  • coordinates a network of Christian doctors for fellowship and professional growth;
  • sponsors students ministries in medical and dental schools;
  • distributes educational and inspirational resources;
  • hosts marriage and family conferences;
  • provides Third World missionary doctors with continuing education resources; and
  • conducts academic exchange programs overseas.

International Voluntary Service Activities

The mission of CMDA's department of Global Health Outreach (GH0) is to use short-term medical mission trips to provide opportunities for medical, dental and other healthcare professionals, their families and associates to serve. GHO leads more than 40 short-term medical mission teams each year to Central America, Africa, Asia and around the world to share and serve medical needs in developing countries.

CMDA's department of Medical Education International exist to change the hearts of national physicians, dentists and students through medical and dental education. MEI teams have traveled to Central and South America, Africa, Asia, Central and Eastern Europe, Russia and Mongolia. Medical and Dental professionals from all specialties are needed, and have opportunity to provide first-hand education as well as participate in teaching new techniques and skills to national physicians, dentists and students who are extremely eager to learn.
