US Route 411 Connector - Georgia

The purpose of the proposed US 411 Connector is to improve connectivity by providing a more direct link between US 411 and I-75. The project is intended to separate regional and locally generated traffic and reduce congestion in the corridor. An environmental impact statement (EIS) for the US 411 to I-75 connection was finalized in 1989, but it was successfully challenged in court in 1993. The proposed project was then incorporated into the Draft EIS for the proposed Northern Arc Freeway. That proposed freeway is no longer being considered, so a Supplemental Draft EIS is being completed to assess the environmental impacts of the US 411 Connector. A Citizens Advisory Committee, composed of 27 individuals representing a diverse set of local interests, is playing an advisory role in the development of the Supplemental EIS.

Natural and cultural resource agencies have expressed concern regarding the potential indirect and cumulative impacts associated with the project.
