A memorial service for Lab employee David “Dwain” Keith, 50, of Radiation Protection Services (HSR-12) is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at the Jemez Falls Picnic Area. Keith died of pancreatic cancer May 16 at Los Alamos Medical Center.
He was born in Stanford, Ky. on Oct. 14, 1955, and served in the United States Army from 1974 to 1994. Keith moved to Los Alamos in 1994 to work as a health and safety officer and trainer for Johnson Controls, a Laboratory contractor.
In February 1998, Keith officially joined the Lab in HSR-12 (then known as ESH-12) as a health physicist/radiological engineer, and was appointed project leader in December 2003.
He received his master’s degree in nuclear engineering from the University of New Mexico in 1997 and a bachelor’s degree in occupational education from Wayland Baptist University in 1993.
Keith is survived by his wife of 33 years, Janice “Jani”; daughter, Casey; son, Dwain of Hazardous Materials Response (HAZMAT); daughter-in-law, Toni; three grandchildren; a brother, Wendell and a sister, Sheila.
