NMSU continues partnership with Laboratory to offer on-site MBA program

By James E. Rickman

March 13, 2006

Laboratory employees will have another opportunity to pursue a Master’s of Business Administration degree on-site through New Mexico State University as part of a program established last year by the Chief Financial Officers (CFO) Division.

The MBA degree program is a professional, accredited course of study designed to provide Laboratory employees with a solid background in business practices and the problem-solving and people skills needed to become successful leaders in a global business environment, said Carolyn Romero of the CFO Division Office, which is sponsoring the program. The program is accredited through the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business.

Employees interested in potentially enrolling in the on-site MBA program should attend an information fair and luncheon at 9 a.m., March 21, at the Hilltop House Best Western Hotel, 400 Trinity Drive in Los Alamos. Former Gov. Garrey Carruthers, dean of the NMSU College of Business, is scheduled to speak at the event.

Interested persons must register for the fair and luncheon by Wednesday (March 15) by calling 505-646-8003 or mba@nmsu.edu by electronic mail. Seating is limited.

Laboratory organizations can cover the cost of tuition and books for individuals accepted into the NMSU program. Laboratory employees also can continue to enroll in other MBA programs. The program also is available to the general public.

Instruction for the next session of the program begins August 2006. Once instruction begins, classes will be held locally every other Friday and Saturday until completion.

For more information, contact Leo Jaramillo of CFO at 7-3848.
