Scholarship fund drive extended to June 30

By Steve Sandoval

June 14, 2005

The annual Los Alamos Employees' Scholarship Fund drive to raise funds to award college scholarships to Northern New Mexico area students has been extended to June 30.

As of June 9, more than $72,000 has been raised in this year's campaign.

Since the program's inception, University of California Laboratory employees and subcontract personnel have contributed more than $1 million in donations or pledges to the Los Alamos Employees' Scholarship Fund giving campaign. Some 315 high school seniors or college undergraduates have received scholarships through the fund since 1999.

Employees can donate to the scholarship fund through payroll deduction or they can make a one-time donation. Personal checks can be written to the Los Alamos National Laboratory Foundation, which manages the scholarship fund. Lab personnel also can make pledges online by going to the foundation Web page at www.lanlfoundation.org online or with a Visa or Mastercard.

An all-employee memo from Lab Director Robert Kuckuck was recently issued (Adobe Acrobat Reader required).
