Students showcase scientific knowledge in supercomputing challenge

April 26, 2005

Albuquerque Academy students Karalyn Baca and Punit Shah, right, look over their paper on cancer development during the opening day of the 15th New Mexico Adventures in Supercomputing Challenge Monday in the Los Alamos Research Park. Their project, "A Computer Program for Tracking Cancer Development and Movement," is one of the finalists in the challenge, which continues with the awards ceremony this morning in the Physics Building Auditorium at Technical Area 3. The goal of the year-long event is to increase knowledge of science and computing; expose students and teachers to computers and applied mathematics; and instill enthusiasm for science in middle- and high-school students, their families and communities.
