LOS ALAMOS, N.M., February 28, 2005 — Los Alamos National Laboratory's Supply Chain Management Division will host a conference on Thursday to provide information about how regional businesses and suppliers can respond to requests for proposals for Just-in-Time catalog subcontracts with the Laboratory.

The conference begins at 9 a.m. in the Jemez rooms of Santa Fe Community College. The conference is free and pre-registration is not required.

Laboratory procurement experts will explain changes to the Laboratory's recently revised Just-in-Time (JIT) contract process and major components of requests for proposal as well as timelines for the JIT process and contract implementation. Procurement experts also will demonstrate new Laboratory procurement system tools. The intent of the conference is to allow regional businesses and suppliers to understand short-term and long-term procurement improvement initiatives underway at the Laboratory. Suppliers also will have the opportunity to ask questions and make comments about the initiatives.

"The conference is intended to provide relevant and specific information about upcoming changes in Laboratory catalog purchasing in an effort to ensure that area suppliers have the opportunity to pursue contracts with the Laboratory," said Ed Lundeen, procurement manager at the Laboratory. "This is part of our commitment to the New Mexico business community and an example of how we will be engaging suppliers as we enhance our procurement processes."

For more information about the conference, contact Janelle Vigil-Maestas at 665-4329 or send questions to business@lanl.gov by electronic mail.
