Badge Office processing new Lab badges

August 27, 2008

Patience, cooperation urged

Technical issues are slowing down the conversion to new security badges for some employees across the Department of Energy complex, including at the Laboratory.

The Badge Office continues to process the new badges most L- and Q-cleared Laboratory employees will be required to obtain in order to meet the new homeland security directive for security badges.

The federal General Services Administration computer system has been experiencing technical problems, contributing to DOE complexwide delays, explained Larry Freestone of the Badge Office.

Freestone asked that Lab employees scheduled to receive a new badge continue to be patient and work with the Badge Office to ensure that the new badging requirements are met.
