CMRR construction

A worker from Austin Commercial Contractors, LP, of Dallas, watches co-workers preparing a large form (attached to hooks) to be removed after cement was poured at the Radiological Laboratory/Utility office building under construction at Technical Area 55. The crane is moving the 1,500-pound form to another location within the job site. The Radiological Laboratory/Utility office building is part of the first phase of the Chemistry and Metallurgy Research Replacement Project. The new building will house radiological laboratory space, a training center, classrooms, two nonradiological training simulation labs, a utility building that supports all CMRR Project facilities, and office space to support 350 personnel in segregated cleared and uncleared areas.

Bottom photo: Construction on the basement and subfloor of the Radiological Laboratory/Utility office building begins to rise out of the ground at Technical Area 55. In this photo looking south and taken around sunrise, retaining walls, piers and other support structures begin to take shape. Pajarito Road is at the top of the photo below the line of trees. The building is part of the Chemistry and Metallurgy Research Replacement Project at TA-55.
