Nonprofit organizations, educational institutions receive grants from Laboratory Foundation

March 27, 2007

The Los Alamos National Laboratory Foundation recently awarded some $3.5 million in Educational Enrichment, Community, and Educational Outreach grants to nonprofit organizations serving several counties in Northern New Mexico.

Educational Enrichment grants are awarded to support critical public school needs, including curriculum development and support, drop-out prevention and intervention, literacy, math/science/technology education, teacher training and support, and technology infrastructure. These grants are offered to eligible school districts based on an allocation formula derived from the number of Laboratory employees and subcontract personnel residing within a given school district.

Community Outreach grants support critical needs in the region, strengthen public education, and enhance community improvement, and the delivery of social services.

Educational Outreach grants support advocacy, early childhood education, quality and cost effective teacher training and support, and math, science and technology education.
