Removing Check in Wizard Accounts (Version 33)
 

A new version of the Check In Wizard, Version 1.00.0035, was released to correct the problem with truncated narratives.  This new version is now installed only once as an All Users application, instead of the previous requirement of being installed once for each specific user on a workstation.

Files for installing Check In Wizard 1.00.0035 are included in the Toolkit 2004 v5.0 Installation package.  However, the installation of Check In Wizard Version 1.00.0035 cannot be completed successfully if individual user installations of previous versions of Check In Wizard still reside on the workstation.  Instructions for individual users to remove Check In Wizard 1.00.0033 from an individual user account are provided in section 3.7.1 of the Toolkit 2004 v5.0 Installation Guide v1.9.  However, if the user is not available at the time that Check In Wizard 1.00.0035 is being installed (as part of the Toolkit 2004 v5.0 package), a work-around is available to administrative users.

Work-around

Version 1.00.0033 of Toolkit Check In Wizard must be removed from a Toolkit workstation before you can install Version 1.00.0035. This is because Version 1.00.0033 leaves account information that prevents Version 1.00.0035 from installing successfully. The preferred method for removing Version 1.00.0033 is to have each individual user remove it from his or her workstation. (See Cleaning Up Old Installations of Check In Wizard (Version 1.00.0033) below.) If the users are not available to remove Version 1.00.0033, you can use a script (available in the ZIP package below), which removes Check in Wizard 1.00.0033 information from each user installation.  Follow the instructions below only if you cannot have the individual users remove their instances of Check In Wizard Version 1.00.0033. 

Instructions 

(Use this procedure only if individual Check In Wizard users have not yet removed their instances of Check In Wizard 1.00.0033 from the workstation.)

  1. Download and unzip the CheckinWizardAccountRemoval.zip file: 
     

    2. Check In Wizard Account Removal script (382 KB compressed file, 05/12/05)
     

  2. Log on as an administrative user.
  3. Run the batch file CheckinAccountRemoval.bat. A dialog box will be visible during the script's processing.
  4. When prompted that processing is complete, exit the dialog box.
  5. Follow the instructions in the Toolkit 2004 v5.0 Installation Guide v1.9, section 3.7, to install Check in Wizard 1.00.0035 on the workstation.

    Note:  After running the Check In Wizard removal script, if you are unable to install Check In Wizard 1.00.0035, contact Toolkit Support at ToolkitSupport@itc.nrcs.usda.gov for assistance. 

Cleaning Up Old Installations of Check In Wizard (Version 1.00.0033)
 

When users log onto this workstation at a later date, they will see both installations of Check in Wizard in the Add/Remove Programs list. 

  • One item, called "Check in Wizard", is the one that the users should remove from their individual user account. 
  • The other item, named "Check In Wizard - All Users", corresponds to Version 1.00.0035.  Do not remove this version.
