King County's Super Pet Adopt-a-thon

100s of dogs and cats to be available at King County's Kent Shelter

Animal lovers have a big day and tough decisions ahead: animal shelters and rescue groups from all over the state will be bringing hundreds of adoptable dogs and cats of all ages, sizes and breeds to King County's Kent Animal Shelter on Saturday, June 21 for the region's third annual Super Pet Adopt-a-thon.

When the doors open at 10:00 a.m., residents will be able to get up close and personal with dozens of pets looking for their forever home.

In addition to the adoptable cats and dogs, this "one-stop adoption event" includes a variety of pet professionals on hand to offer advice and answer questions about bringing a new furry friend into the family. King County dog and cat licenses will be available all day and microchipping will be provided on-site.

The Super Pet Adopt-a-thon replaced King County's Annual Pet Adopt-a-thon in 2006. The Pet Adopt-a-thon began in 1996 to draw attention to the large numbers of companion animals available for adoption at local shelters. By pooling resources at one event, participating agencies are able to connect more people with pets in need in a shorter period of time.

The event will take place at the King County Kent Animal Shelter, 21615 64th Ave. S in Kent. For more information on adoption fees or the event, visit the shelter's website at http://www.kingcounty.gov/pets.
