King County hosting May 13 public meeting on Black Diamond sewer improvement project

Black Diamond community members seeking information about a proposed sewer improvement project are invited to a public meeting to meet staff, learn about project plans and get questions answered.

The meeting will take place on Tuesday, May 13, 2008, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Black Diamond Elementary School Gym, 25314 Baker Street, Black Diamond.

King County is working with the City of Black Diamond to meet the growing community’s need for more wastewater capacity. The county’s plan includes building a storage facility near the existing county pump station by Jones Lake, and incorporating design to ensure the facility is a good neighbor that meets community standards.

More information about the project is available on the Web at http://dnr.metrokc.gov/wtd/projects/BlackDiamond

People can also call 206-684-1235 or 711 TTY to learn more or to request reasonable accommodations for people with disabilities at the meeting.

People enjoy clean water and a healthy environment because of King County's wastewater treatment program. The county’s Wastewater Treatment Division protects public health and water quality by serving 17 cities, 17 local sewer districts and more than 1.4 million residents in King, Snohomish and Pierce counties. Formerly called Metro, the regional clean-water agency now operated by King County has been preventing water pollution for more than 40 years.
