Reminder: Duwamish River Festival tomorrow

4th-annual celebration of Seattle’s ‘home river’ 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. in South Park

Come celebrate the ongoing revival of Seattle’s “home river” at the fourth-annual Duwamish River Festival, Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the Duwamish Waterway Park in Seattle's South Park neighborhood.

This free, family-oriented environmental festival is the perfect opportunity to learn more about the continuing efforts to restore the Duwamish River, which is a federally designated Superfund clean-up site.

This year’s event will have even more booths and activities including kayak tours on the river, live entertainment, water taxi rides, food, children’s activities, health information, tiny tots nail salon, an eco-friendly car wash demonstration and more.

Duwamish Waterway Park is at 7900 10th Ave. S., Seattle.

The Duwamish River program sponsors include: the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency; the Washington State Department of Ecology; the Duwamish River Cleanup Coalition; King County; Port of Seattle; The Boeing Company; Seattle Public Utilities; Public Health - Seattle and King County; Puget Sound Clean Air Agency; Field Roast Grain Meat Co.; Alki Kayak Tours; Bluefield Holdings, Inc.; Cascade Land Conservancy; Alaskan Way Viaduct and Seawall Replacement Program; Windward Environmental; City of Tukwila; Global Diving and Salvage, Inc., and SeaMar Community Health Center.

Editor’s Note: Saturday’s weather forecast is looking great, and this outdoor festival should be packed with south Seattle residents and other people who are interested in seeing the latest work that’s been done to bring life back to the Duwamish.
