Share your Election Day experience

People can experience every aspect of Election Day via live Election Day reports and photos available on the King County Elections homepage. Anyone can find the site by clicking on “King County Votes” from the elections homepage, www.kingcounty.gov/votes. Members of the public are invited to post their own photos.

“Election Day is one of the most exciting demonstrations of democracy in action,” said Sherril Huff, King County Elections director. “We are inviting the public to share their voting experiences and we are opening the entire election day process to people who live here.”

The elections facility has always been open to the public but now people can see even more of what happens behind the scenes on Election Day. A new internet feature shows the whole process from the help desk that supports poll workers, ballot opening and counting, to what is happening at polling places around King County.

“We have made more than 300 improvements to the elections process over the past four years all aimed at safeguarding the public’s interest in a fair and secure election,” said Huff. “We want to encourage people to share their experience in this amazing process that allows us to elect our own leaders.”

People interested in posting photos should follow these guidelines:

  • It is illegal to photograph voters while voting their ballot.
  • King County owns the rights to use your photographs.
  • King County cannot reimburse you for picture messages you send.
  • Be respectful: ask if you can take someone's picture before you take it.

How to send us pictures: We are using an online tool called Flickr to manage the photos for this process. To send us images please do the following from your cell phone:

  • Email photos or video to over94nice@photos.flickr.com
  • Subject line: use the name of your polling location
  • Photo credit: use "Photo by Your Name" and we will make sure it gets attributed.
