April 16, 2008 Learn about green jobs with King County at the Women in Trades Career Fair, May 2
Visit
the King County Department of Natural Resources and Parks booth at the
29th annual Washington Women in Trades Career Fair on Friday, May 2,
from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. at Seattle Center Fisher Pavilion. Admission
is free.
As the "green" economy grows, so do opportunities for work in green
construction and trades. King County's Equity and Social Justice
Initiative and the King County Climate Change Team have a series of
joint goals to address how King County as a leading green government
can develop work opportunities for people of all employment skill
levels.
Discover the variety of environmental careers that are available
with DNRP's award-winning green team, and the different career
possibilities that foster environmental stewardship and strengthen
communities. Department representatives will be available to provide
information and answer questions.
The fair will also include more than 80 exhibits full of recruiters,
employers and apprenticeship programs and working tradeswoman hands-on
activities, including climbing utility poles and operating power tools.
Fairgoers will also have the opportunity to meet legendary World War II
Rosie the Riveters – women who worked in factories as part of the war
effort.
