AHRQ Revamps Web Site To Make Information More Accessible

The federal Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) today unveiled a newly redesigned Web site that offers reporters easier access to AHRQ news and information through its online Newsroom.

The Newsroom, at http://www.ahrq.gov/news/vnewsix.htm, provides concise information on key AHRQ initiatives, news announcements, publications and products. A new feature is the "Latest Headlines" section, which includes the most recent press releases and links to topical areas of health care research. The Newsroom portion of the site also features a mechanism for reporters to sign up for electronic updates.

The changes were part of a major redesign to make the AHRQ Web site faster and easier to use. The site includes:

AHRQ is the lead agency charged with supporting research designed to improve the quality of health care, reduce its cost, improve patient safety, address medical errors, and broaden access to essential services. AHRQ sponsors and conducts research that provides evidence-based information on health care outcomes; quality; and cost, use, and access. The information helps health care decisionmakers—patients and clinicians, health system leaders, and policymakers—make more informed decisions and improve the quality of health care services.
