Hello!
I'm Victor, and I'm a project scientist in the Enviromental Ecology Group in DOE Joint Genome Institute. Here I'm working with Phil Hugenholtz on the genomics of microbial communities. The whole field is now in its infancy, and we intend to do some baby-sitting to it.
Some history:
Born in St.Petersburg, Russia, I moved to Israel when I was 16. Then after wasting almost 3 years of my life for compulsory army service, I started to gnaw The Science.
I did my B.Sc. in the Faculty of Biology of Tel Aviv University, and M.Sc. in Weizmann Institute of Science in the group of Dr. Shmuel Pietrokovski.
Last but not least I did my PhD in the Computational Genomics Group in EBI, and graduated from Cambridge University.
That's all for a while, sorry folks.
My Interests:
Biology and computers and together it becomes bioinformatics.
I like beautiful places, beautiful things and beautiful women. Try to look at them with my eyes on the page with some of the pictures from my camera. I'm fascinated by beautiful motion of martial art, and I'm a black belt (first dan) in Shotokan Karate. Back in Cambridge I've got completely addicted to Capoeira. If you don't know how infective it is, just try it once...
