HYDROMETEOROLOGICAL FORECAST DISCUSSION
NWS NORTH CENTRAL RIVER FORECAST CENTER TWIN CITIES/CHANHASSEN MN
1150 AM CDT MON SEP 22 2008

...Precipitation...

Scattered isolated showers dropped a few tenths of rain over the extreme
southern NCRFC areas although over an inch of rain was reported at 
Murhpysboro. Widespead rainfall was observed for the Dakota's and 
northwest Minnesota where areas such as Devils Lake received a band
of an inch and a half of rain. A pocket of heavy rainfall also an inch
and a half was also observed north of Grand Forks in Hallock Minnesota.

Storms are expected to redevelop over North Dakota and northwest 
Minnesota today with amounts of a few tenths expected for the 
Minnesota portion and a few tenths to over an inch in North Dakota.
Heavy rain is also moving into west central Iowa but total accumulations
for 24 hours are expected to be in general less than a half an inch. 
 

...Hydrologic Conditions...

Moderate to major flooding continues along the Illinois River in
central Illinois and one if it's tributaries...the Kanakakee
River...in northern Indiana....and both of these rivers are expected
to remain in the moderate to major levels for several more days. 
While the Kankakee River and upper Illinois River have crested...the
Illinois from Havana down to Valley City should continue to gradually 
rise for another day or two into mid-week.

The Huron River near Hamburg Michigan is also experiencing significant
flooding...but it is receding...and is forecast to fall below flood
stage by the end of the week.
