Admiral John C. Bull, Director of the Coast and Geodetic Survey's Atlantic Marine Center in Norfolk, john bullVirginia, passed away this morning (September 3, 1968.) His sudden death was apparently due to a heart attack which occurred at Washington National Airport as he was preparing to return to Norfolk. Admiral Bull was a native of South Carolina. He entered the Coast and Geodetic Survey commissioned corps in 1930 after graduating from the Citadel. He was transferred to the Army in March 1942 and returned to the Coast and Geodetic Survey in February 1946. For service in Europe with the artillery during that period he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal and Croix de Guerre. Admiral Bull served on ten different Coast and Geodetic Survey ships and commanded the COWIE, BOWEN, and EXPLORER.

Survivors include Mrs. Bull and a son Dr. John C. Bull, Jr.
