Amatrudo has served in the Coast Guard for 31 years.
Prior to his current assignment, he served as the Eighth District Command Master Chief in post-Katrina New Orleans. Other assignments include tours on the Coast Guard Cutter Duane, Group Astoria, Ore., Air Station Cape Cod, Mass., as the unit’s Command Master Chief, Air Station Traverse City, Mich., Air Station Kodiak, Alaska, and Air Station Clearwater, Fla., where he was the leading chief of the largest aviation workforce division in the Coast Guard. During this time, he also supervised the creation of a temporary air station in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, for Operation Frontier Lance.
Amatrudo, an aviation maintenance technician, served as the chief of the mess for Southeastern New England’s consolidated Chief’s Mess and as the senior enlisted member of the HH-60 (Helicopter) Aviation Use of Force prototype team and Maritime Security Response Team planning team.
He is a graduate of several specialized training courses including the Coast Guard Command Chiefs’ course the Navy Senior Enlisted Academy, and the National Defense University’s Keystone Command Senior Enlisted Leader Course.
Amatrudo’s personal awards include two Meritorious Service Medals, an Air Medal, a Silver Lifesaving Medal, three Coast Guard Commendation Medals, four Coast Guard Achievement Medals, four Meritorious Team Commendations, and two Perchard Awards for distinguished aircrew professionalism
