The report is an overview of gas hydrate research with particular emphasis on the activities within the MMS. The document describes gas hydrates and answers the questions: What are they? Why do people care about them? What type of research should MMS be funding? A brief summary of the activities in other agencies and around the world is also given. This document is valuable to anyone interested in the current status of hydrate research within MMS.
