Aerospace Industries Association (AIA) AIA was founded in 1919 and is the trade association representing the Nation’s manufacturers of commercial, military, and business aircraft, helicopters, aircraft engines, missiles, spacecraft, and related components and equipment. Works closely with Federal agencies such as the Department of Defense, National Aeronautics and Space Administration, the Federal Aviation Administration, and others to ensure that the interests of its members are represented. AIA publishes a monthly newsletter, the AIAUpdate, which covers industry issues, develops industry statistics, and publishes National Aerospace Standards. Air Conditioning Contractors of America (ACCA) The Air Conditioning Contractors of America (ACCA) is the nation's premiere trade association of heating, ventilating, air conditioning, and refrigeration (HVACR) contractors. With 68 state and local chapters across the country, ACCA's member network of more than 9,000 contractors nationwide also includes manufacturers of HVACR equipment, wholesalers and distributors, vocational and technical schools, facilities operators, and others.. A catalogue listing technical publications certification and training programs and resources, and business management aids is available, along with a series of technical, management, and safety bulletins. Air Transport Association of America Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA) A membership association representing more than 375,000 pilots and aircraft owners using general aviation aircraft for business and personal transportation. AOPA works closely with the Federal Aviation Administration, Department of Transportation, National Transportation Safety Board, the United States Congress, and with other aviation organizations to ensure that the interests of members and the entire general aviation community are represented at the Federal, State, and local levels. The affiliated AOPA Air Safety Foundation conducts research, safety and educational programs and flight training clinics. Air Diffusion Council Mission is to encourage, assist and support the maintenance and development of credible and efficient industry standards for the installation, use and performance of flexible duct products; to promote the use of those standards by various code bodies, government agencies, architects, engineers, heating and air conditioning contractors, etc. so that the best interests of the public may be served. The Aluminum Association, Inc. The Aluminum Association, Inc. is the trade association for producers of primary aluminum, recyclers and semi-fabricated aluminum products. American Architectural Manufacturers Association (AAMA) Implementation source for standards and performance data on windows, doors, store-fronts, curtain walls, skylights, sloped glazing siding, soffit, facia, and other fenestration products. Provides technical information on coatings and finishes, weather strips, hardware, and sealants. Sponsors product research and laboratory testing for these products. Conducts certification programs for windows, doors, storm products, skylights, and product components. American Boiler Manufacturers Association (ABMA) The American Boiler Manufacturers Association (ABMA) is the national, nonprofit trade association of manufacturers of commercial/institutional, industrial and power-generating boilers, related fuel burning equipment, users of boiler and boiler-related equipment, and companies which provide products and services to the boiler industry. In short, ABMA represents the companies that design and build the systems that combust the fuels that generate the steam and hot water that powers and comforts America and the world. American Coal Ash Association (ACAA) ACAA's mission is to advance the management and use of coal combustion products (CCPs) in ways that are technically sound, commercially competitive and environmentally safe. American Coal Foundation (ACF) American College of Nuclear Physicians (ACNP) The American College of Nuclear Physicians (ACNP) is comprised of physicians and others dedicated to enhancing the practice of nuclear medicine through the study, education and improvement of clinical practice. ACNP, which originated in 1974, provides access to activities that encompass the business and economics of nuclear medicine as they impact nuclear medicine physicians. Specifically, the ACNP is a trade association that directly represents the interests of nuclear medicine physicians before legislative and regulatory bodies, other medical organizations, the media and general public. The goal is to assure a legislative, legal, regulatory and economic framework that encourages and makes practicable the safe, appropriate use of nuclear medicine procedures to improve the quality of health care service available to patients. American Consulting Engineers Council (ACEC) Provides energy management services to commercial building owners. ACEC, a federation of state and local associations, provides referrals to engineering firms, and distributes publications on general energy information for commercial buildings. American Council on Education Provides information on pending energy legislation affecting colleges and universities. Provides information on ongoing energy education programs and examples of renewable energy and conservation projects undertaken by colleges and universities. All members of the academic community are invited to use the services of this organization. American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE) The American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing energy efficiency as a means of promoting both economic prosperity and environmental protection. ACEEE fulfills its mission by: conducting in-depth technical and policy assessments; advising governments and utilities; working collaboratively with business and other organizations; publishing books, conference proceedings, and reports; organizing conferences; and informing consumers. Support for ACEEE comes from a wide range of foundations, government organizations, research institutes, utilities, and corporations. American Gas Association (AGA) Provides information on sales, finance, utilization, research, management, safety, accounting, and all phases of gas transmission and distribution. Sponsors competitions among primary and secondary students and public service and informational advertising. Promotes employee and public safety. Compiles a wide variety of national and regional statistical, economic, financial, and marketing studies; develops operating practices and gas rate schedules for every type of service for virtually all gas companies. Maintains an independent committee that compiles standards on construction and performance of appliances and equipment, as well as special committees in areas of industry interest. American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) Members include basic manufacturers in the steel industry. Members operate steel mills, blast furnaces, finishing mills, and iron ore mines. Products include pig iron, steel ingots, sheets, plates, bars, shapes, strips, tin plate, nails, pipe and tubes, railroad rails, wire products, and other basic forms of ferrous metals. Conducts extensive research programs on manufacturing technology, basic materials, environmental quality control, energy and fuels consumption. American Lighting Association (ALA) Provides general and technical information on the efficient use of lighting. The ALA (formerly the American Home Lighting Institute) is composed of manufacturers and their marketing representatives and showroom distributors. American Petroleum Institute (API) The American Petroleum Institute is a trade association that represents the domestic petroleum industry. American Public Power Association (APPA) APPA represents the nation's 2,000 not-for-profit, community and state-owned electric utilities that serve 35 million Americans. APPA provides a variety of services to its members: representation before Congress, federal agencies, and the courts; educational programs and services in technical, management and policy areas; collection, analysis, and dissemination of information through a variety of periodicals, publications, and the Internet; funding for member energy research and development projects; recognition of utilities and individuals for excellence, and a subsidiary that provides a portfolio of competitively priced operational and retail products and services. In addition, APPA serves as a resource for state and local officials, news reporters, other organizations, and the general public on public power and utility service issues. American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) ASTM members include engineers, scientists, managers, professionals, academicians, consumers, and skilled technicians who also hold membership as individuals in or as representatives of business firms, government agencies, educational institutions, and laboratories. Establishes voluntary standards for materials, products, systems, and services. Has over130 technical committees (each having five to 50 subcommittees). New committees are organized each year to keep pace with technological advances. Sponsors more than 40 symposiums each year. Has developed more than 10,000 standard test methods, specifications, classifications, definitions, and recommended practices now in use. American Society of Agricultural Engineers ASAE is the professional and technical organization for engineers with interests in engineering for agricultural, food, and biological systems. The Society responds to technical inquiries on biomass, alcohol fuels, vegetable oil fuels, solar energy, and wind energy. Publishes technical papers, standards, books, conference proceedings, and a monthly magazine entitled Resource. A listing of publications and prices is available upon request. American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers, Inc. (ASHRAE) Through its membership, ASHRAE writes standards that set uniform methods of testing and rating equipment and establish accepted practices for the HVAC&R industry worldwide, such as the design of energy efficient buildings. The Society's research program, currently more than 100 research projects worth nearly $8 million, investigates numerous issues, such as identifying new refrigerants that are environmentally safe. ASHRAE organizes broad-based technical programs for presentation at its semiannual meetings and co-sponsors the International Air-Conditioning, Heating, Refrigerating Exposition, the largest HVAC&R trade show in North America. American Trucking Associations, Inc. (ATA) The American Trucking Association is the national trade association representing the trucking industry. It provides guidance to members on conducting fuel economy tests in heavy-duty trucks, conducts research on energy and trucking-related issues and coordinates alternative fuel demonstration projects in heavy-duty trucks through its Trucking Research Institute. ATA has experts in trucking safety, energy, and environmental matters. The ATA Information Center maintains a comprehensive holding of trucking and transportation-related information. ATA also publishes weekly fuel price indexes, and has a weekly publication: Transport Topics. American Underground-Construction Association As a multi-disciplinary, nonprofit, professional organization involved in developing and using underground space, provides information and educational materials on underground space to its members and the general public. Provides a forum where technical, economic, social, environmental, and policy-related issues about developing and using underground space are discussed. American Wind Energy Association (AWEA) AWEA is the national trade organization representing the wind energy industry. The Association works to further the development of wind energy as a clean, reliable energy alternative at the federal and state levels, with emphasis on legislative and regulatory issues. Disseminates information concerning wind technology and industry activities to the news media, the general public, and to key target audiences such as electric utilities and state regulators. APA – The Engineered Wood Association Provides information on the various aspects of structural wood panels. Builders and contractors may call with questions on energy conservation and the insulating properties of wood. The Association, representing 50 member companies in both the United States and Canada, is involved in quality testing and inspection, research and development, and product promotion. Association of American Railroads (AAR) Represents railroads operating in North America. Monitors developments in the following areas: alternative locomotive fuels; fuel security and management; the reduction of fuel consumption through engine modification, rail lubrication, and changes in railroad operations; and alternatives to diesel engines. Association of Energy Engineers (AEE) AEE members include engineers, architects, and other professionals with an interest in energy management and cogeneration, manufacturers and industries involved in energy and the environment. Promotes the advancement of the profession and contributes to the professional development of members. Conducts seminars and conferences. Sponsors the Cogeneration and Competitive Power Institute, the Environmental Engineers and Managers Institute, and the Energy Services Marketing Society Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers Supplies information on the energy efficiency of major appliances. You must call from a fax machine handset to receive information from Fax On Demand system Association of Oil Pipe Lines (AOPL) AOPL is an unincorporated nonprofit organization started in 1947 and provides: 1) a forum where members can exchange ideas and discuss methods which will improve the oil transportation service offered by pipelines so that they may better serve the commerce and national defense of the United States; 2) a forum where industry problems, such as safety and other matters of public interest, can be discussed and solutions sought; 3) an organization which informs itself of developments in the regulatory, judicial, and legislative bodies of the States and of the United States, of interest to the industry, and keeps the members of the Association informed of such matters; and 4) an organization which assembles and keeps current information about the oil pipeline industry, makes such information available to the general public, the press, institutions for learning, and any other interested groups, organizations or individuals, for the purpose of securing recognition of the vital transportation role oil pipelines play in the economy of this country, its commerce and its national defense. To this end, the Association conducts periodic seminars and tours of industry facilities to educate public officials. AOPL testifies before congressional committees and otherwise represents the industry before the Congress on pertinent legislation. AOPL also participates in administrative and judicial proceedings and cases affecting the industry, most particularly the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit. |
