NREL Nonpetroleum Based Fuels

National Center for Agricultural Utilization Research (NCAUR)

NCAUR invents new uses of agriculture commodities for industrial and food products, develops new technology to improve environmental quality, and provides technical support to federal regulatory and action agencies. The center's fuels and chemicals division is working on new ways to increase the production of both ethanol and biodiesel.

Non-Petroleum Based Fuels

The National Renewable Energy Laboratory is active in gas-to-liquid (GTL) fuel research also called Fischer-Tropsch diesel research. GTL diesel fuels have been shown to reduce regulated exhaust emissions from a variety of diesel engines and vehicles. The Energy Cooperative

The Energy Cooperative is a nonprofit, member-owned cooperative with over 6500 members throughout Southeastern Pennsylvania. Founded in 1979 by Weaver's Way, a successful food cooperative in the Germantown neighborhood of Philadelphia, the Energy Cooperative has provided savings on home heating oil for 25 years.
