Food Allergen Inspection Training for Regulators

On May 24, 2001 FDA's Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition conducted food allergen training for FDA food regulators located at the Seattle, Philadelphia, and Cincinnati FDA district offices. The objective of the training was to provide FDA investgators and compliance officers with the tools necessary to conduct an immediate allergen field assignment of select firms between May - September 2001.

On October 5, 2001 FDA's Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition and Office of Regulatory Affairs presented via satellite a broadcast entitled "Conducting Food Allergen Inspections." The target audience was FDA and State regulators responsible for conducting food inspections across the US. The objective of the training was to review FDA's policy on food allergens, provide information on potential sources, and provide tools to assist investigators in performing effective and uniform allergen inspections.
