The U.S. Department of Homeland Security announced today the beginning of two new programs for acquiring Information Technology (IT) within the department – one program for IT services and one for IT commodities. DHS will bring together government and industry in an informational session on these two important initiatives Aug. 16 from 9 a.m. to noon in the Ronald Reagan Auditorium in Washington, D.C. where DHS procurement and IT officials will be on hand to provide an overview of strategies and perspectives.

The department named the program for IT support services “EAGLE” (Enterprise Acquisition Gateway for Leading Edge solutions) and the program for acquiring IT commodities “First Source.”

“These programs, when fully in place, will satisfy the vast majority of DHS information task requirements,” said Scott Charbo, DHS Chief Information Officer. “The programs are designed to meet the goal of one IT infrastructure, and will run out of the Enterprise Solutions Office, a joint program office, under the IT Acquisition Center (ITAC).”

The programs are being established following the guidelines of the Federal Acquisition Regulation and will consist of multiple contracts to both large and small businesses. The department will issue two requests for proposals (RFPs) on the programs within the next few weeks.

The briefing is free and registration is on a first-come first-served basis. Only two representatives from each company will be allowed. Interested vendors should visit www.actgov.org/OpenRegistration to register.

More information regarding the EAGLE and First Source can be found at www.dhs.gov/openforbusiness.
